By coordinating habitat-focused forestry, prescribed fire, and responsible land management across privately and publicly owned lands, we help create landscapes that support wildlife, protect clean water, and remain productive for generations.
Much of Northeast Pennsylvania is defined by large, contiguous forests, cold water streams, and privately owned land. Over time, many of these forests have matured into uniform, closed canopy systems that limit sunlight, reduce plant diversity, and diminish wildlife habitat.
At the same time, these same forests form the headwaters of important watershedssupplying drinking water, supporting trout fisheries, and shaping downstream ecosystems.
The Foundation exists to address these interconnected challenges at the scale required to make a meaningful difference.
Healthy wildlife populations depend on healthy forests. Healthy forests, in turn, protect clean water.
Forest structure influences how sunlight reaches the forest floor, how water infiltrates the soil, and how nutrients move through the landscape. Well managed forests support cold, clean streams by maintaining shade, stabilizing soils, and protecting groundwater recharge.

Private landowners play a critical role in conservation across Northeast Pennsylvania. Participation in Foundation programs is voluntary, collaborative, and designed to respect individual ownership and land-use goals.
We work alongside landowners, not over them providing coordination, technical support, training opportunities, and access to science-based practices that deliver long-term benefits.
